Exploring correlated quantum matter in nanoscale systems — from magnetism and superconductivity to application-oriented technologies.
We investigate how strong electronic correlations interact with disorder and electronic granularity, shaping ground states such as magnetism, superconductivity, and quantum phase transitions.
Our focus lies on nanoscale systems—thin films and nanostructures— prepared and tailored with advanced nanofabrication techniques.
Using focused electron- and ion-beam induced deposition (FEBID/FIBID), we directly write functional nanostructures, bridging basic research and device applications.
Our research keeps an application-oriented perspective, seeking opportunities to translate fundamental insights into enabling technologies and innovative solutions.
We integrate our research into teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, offering lectures, seminars, and project opportunities in solid-state physics, thin film growth, nanostructure fabrication, and quantum materials.
